One of my favorite directors, David Ayer (“End of Watch”), has finally sold his script “Fury” to QED International.
Deadline reported yesterday that the $1 million sale was not only for the script, but also to allow David Ayer to direct the project (he is sure to make a lot of money on the back end).
The story takes place in 1945 as the Nazi regime collapses and the five man crew of an American tank called Fury battles a desperate German army.
While Ayer is known for his gritty cop dramas (like “Street Kings”) he has been looking to branch outside of his comfort zone for a while.
This will give him a chance to test out his directing chops on what appears to be a solid action flick, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us.
