David Arquette celebrated Halloween Eve by getting into some mischief. On October 30, the actor made a drunken phone call to shock jock Howard Stern’s radio show and he made one thing clear: He was drunk.
According to a report by Us Weekly, Arquette’s call to Stern’s Sirius XM show was incoherent and rambling. "I'm wasted," Arquette told Stern. "I threw a wrap party for this film I'm working on called 'The Key. This isn’t the first time I called you [drunk], I've called in a few times."
A drunken Arquette made headlines in 2010 when he called in to Stern’s show and talked in graphic detail about his personal life ex-wife Courteney Cox.
In a 2011 interview with Oprah Winfrey, the actor revealed that his marriage to the former “Friends” star ended in large part due to his drinking. At the time he had been clean and sober for several months and told Winfrey his goal was “to stay sober… be loving and kind… to not have to go to that suffering place.”
On January 1, 2012, Arquette marked his first full year of sobriety. A year after checking into rehab, he tweeted, “Today marks 1 year of sobriety for me. I thank God for the strength and guidance and my family and friends for their love and support & I TY.”
Unfortunately, he fell off the wagon before being able to to tweet a similar message this New Year’s Day. According to USA Today, Arquette admitted that he was back to drinking last summer.
“I'm a drinker, so yes, I drink a lot," he said in an August interview with Stern."I've been sober for two years and four months. And I was feeling like I wasn't being that true to myself, like what I enjoy and this and that."
After calling Stern “God” in his most recent call to the shock jock, Arquette ended things on this note: "I'm sorry, and I apologize to anyone I'm going to offend. And I'm wasted and I'll get sober tomorrow."
