After a week of voting, David Archuleta has won the West Palm Beach Television Examiner's poll that asked readers who their favorite American Idol runner up was: Adam Lambert, David Archuleta, or Clay Aiken?
The boy who got to the Idol final with David Cook last year won with 50% of a total of 288,612 votes at 12.00am EST on Monday, August 17th. Clay Aiken followed with 35%, and Adam Lambert with 15%. The system, controversial and criticized by some of the participants, emulated the one in American Idol and gave voters a time limit, but no limit on how many times each of them could vote.
David Archuleta's new album Christmas From the Heart recently became available for pre-order.

Adam Lambert hasn't been out as long as David or Clay. His popularity is still growing and catching like wild-fire. I am surprised Adam was ranked as 3rd but who cares? The concept behind this popularity poll isn't justified.
David Archie is the best and totally deserves it. Even tho there is no prize, it is the honor.
David Archuleta is the most inspirational person who affected my life and lives of many in the world. Will be buying his Christmas CD and his second pop CD that is due for release in 2010.
David is giving back so much to the world. His work for charities, his amazing diplomacy skills, discretion and his absolute high moral standards make you want to be a better person. He is a role model for many people, teens and adults (I think at this point mostly adults as we have seen a lot and really miss the good people in this world). David brings goodness and purity. He is amazing person who has a voice of an angel.

No sore losers here I hope...if your runner-up idol did not win the popularity poll then blame yourselves for not putting enough efforts to prove that your idol is your favorite runner-up. David has the kind of versatility and character that transends age, gender, race, or nationality. He is currently pop, but meanwhile we all look forward to a Christmas album and tour. He sings gospel at firesides, Spanish on tour, and impromptu acapella upon request. David sees music as his passion and a way to help people rather than a way to become famous and rich. He actively supports various charities, visits the sick, and provides a positive example to kids. He will last.
David's really amazing live and getting better everyday since he's still so young. He's also sweet as pie, once in a lifetime gem imo! I'm really excited about his Xmas CD, it will be fantastic!
Clay and Adam are also talented and have both worked hard all these years so good luck to them too.
LOL. I think this poll was more about which fan group posted this on their website and encouraged the most voting. Also, since one person could vote multiple times, I'm not quite sure what this poll shows...
David Archuleta has come a long way since coming out of the Idol fold. Although his debut album is mainly pop, he has shown beyond any doubt that he can sing ANYTHING and appeals to people of all ages and backgrounds. Add to that his endearing personality, his active support of humanitarian causes and a fiercely loyal fanbase. As a devoted fan of David, I hope he will continue to make music and inspire us for many more years to come. Congratulations on a well-deserved win!
I voted for David, and I am going to buy every album that he makes. I love him for his amazing personality and beautiful voice. I will always be his fan no matter what.
For those of you who question the validity of this poll, question yourself as devoted fans. We were all equal going into this poll so if you're upset be upset with yourself.
I like all three idol runner ups and I think they are all talented and perhaps should have won, but I do have to say in all honesty David is an incredible human being with so much talent at the age of 18. You can't ignore the charisma and gift Archie has and I am a Claymate!! We have to be honest with ourselves and admit Archie deserves to be with the greats of Clay and Adam; however, his fans were more determined and won fair and square! There's room for all three to be successful!

dear LOL --- this is what fans do.. they support their favorite and communicate among each other tthose things and fun activities such as this in order to participate. whether large or small, deemed important or not, that is in the eye of each individual, but it is this type of fan support and activity that allows ev everyone to contribute.. it doesn't cost any money, doesn't require travel, but allows everyone to feel they're doing an activity with fellow fans that are fun and that help build unity. what the poll results say to me is that whether it was 1 fan, or 1000k fans, those fans picked their favorite, and voted according to the rules of the poll, and prevailed. it's clear to me.
au contraire, your fanbase cannot have it both ways - you proclaim adam is already an international superstar, the best singer to ever be on idol, and implied that david and clay weren't worthy to be on the same poll as he, and that he was above such ''silly'' polls like this.. and now it's he's not as well known, his popularity is still growing, and the concept behind the poll isn't justified.... so which is it, or does the rationale change depending on the outcome of a poll.. it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, as they all must take their own unique appeal and ''popularity'' and have it translate into the mainstream music buying public at large - and sustain it over a period of years - that is the real test, and my hope is that all three will be able to achieve this. adam and your fanbase will be facing this test very soon, and it won't be as easy as you think, or as fun as voting in a poll... good luck to them all.

Another Clay fan who wants to give congrats to the Archies for coming through for their guy. David I liked in his season, and my regards to him for a successful career. Also want to wish Clay much success with his new record deal, and the new album in 2010!
thanks examiner for this fun poll... it was a welcome respite and diversion for the fans, and we look forward to others like it .... the three contestants are/were all unique, had different appeal to the fans, and it appears the one with the more determined fans came out on top - good work archuleta fans, and good luck to david in all his future endeavours, as well as the other two - all are worthy of their success now and that still to come.
Congratulations to Archie! Although I am an older Claymate fan, and I did vote a few times, I am so elated that Archie won. He has won my heart as a mom in that I am so happy my teenage son is a fan of his and voted a lot more than I did! What mother doesn't worry about their teenager and what they listen to? For that I am so proud of Archie for remaining true to himself and winning more of the younger fans. He is a role model for our kids and I know alot of Clays' fans are older now with children and want the best for their children in this day and age!
Congratulations to David Archuleta! I am so happy that many good things are happening to this young man! I want to give a shout out to Clay's fans for some of the nice comments toward David that I think I'm going to support Clay and buy his new album and any others he may have out! That's what David and his fans are all about - just being kind and supporting each other!
David Archuleta is the best! no doubt about that. We didn't need a poll to know that. I'm a huge David Archuleta admirer since the first day I saw him on American Idol in 2008. His personality, his voice made me a fan from the first second I saw him. I've been following David's career since then, and I was more pleased to learn that David is an AMAZING human being; a great role model for people of all ages. His beliefs, moral values, the love and respect he has for life and for people (and his love and respect for the environment and animals as well) makes me admire him even more. I'm 43 years old and I'm a David Archuleta fan for life!

Although David's voice is one of the best voices I've ever heard, it's not just David's talent that I voted for. I voted for what he stands for. He's an amazing person and very involved in helping others. He truly sets an example for what an Idol should be. I will buy any CD he makes and will support him in anything that he does. Congrats to David and his fans.

your comment colleen s is exactly why fans of other idols - who could be supporters of adam and buy his cd - are not and will not. there is no reason to be so ungracious about any ex idol, and their hard work in trying to build a successful career for themselves. it takes support from many quarters to help them achieve this, and the tone many of lamberts fans are taking is divisive and is alienating many fans of these other idols, who he just may need down the road. adam is just beginning, and he is not above the help and support from these other bases. i wish him and these other three well, they are all talented, or they wouldn't have survived the meat grinder that is american idol, and in david and clay's case, achieved success in the mainstream music world post idol. adam has got to get there, but with comments like that, you are turning off a valuable resource he may need down the road.
I did vote in this poll for Adam but I think Adam or any of them has a need for polls any more - Idol gave Adam his talent to the world and I am grateful for that. They cannot always be compared to each other as they are all different in their own ways - my way just happens to be Adam's way, the best talent to come along in my lifetime.

This is a fun poll, all 3 are great in their styles. But serioulsy to the post "you're doing lambert no favor", be fair now, mudslinging happens from a lot of other fans,Colleen was just expressing her opinion, and everyone is entitled to like who they want, and if you are so weak minded as to let anothers opinion rule you and that you would take it out on Adam to think you are showing a few grumpy fans a lesson , please wake up, your self importance isn't worth a darn. Light and Love to these 3 wonderful singers, I support them all. Anyone who is trying to break into show biz has it really tough.

It's great to see so many supportive fans for all 3. I agree with Light too, to take your support away from any 3 due to what they percieve as a slight or negative comment, well, that is what really is small and mean spirited.
Yes - mudslinging does occur, and people are entitled to their opinions, but there has been a lot of outlandish and outrageousness in comments and behavior exhibited across the internet, and on the idol tour, that is proving to be very alienating and divisive. fans are naturally going to think their fave is the best, but there seems to be no room in the lambert universe to acknowledge the talent and efforts of pervious idol contestants, who have made their mark, and who have paid their dues to get to the level they're at. it's as if nobody else ever competed on idol, or existed, and that level arrogance and dismissiveness has left a bad taste in the mouth of many ex idol fans. respect and graciousness never go out of fashion or season, and while i may have a fave i support, i don't have to put down, dismiss or disrespect another fans fave in order to elevate mine. they all launched from the same idol platform, and are all deserving of our respect. r-e-s-p-e-c-t.
I think that all three runner-ups are very talented!! David is to be congratulated, as he has worked so tirelessly for more than a year. I absolutely love his voice. He sings with so much depth and emotion...no matter what he sings. David is the entire package. I have never met a kinder, more caring individual. He loves his fans, and gives of himself totally. He loves life, and looks to find the positive in every situation. He loves singing, and gives his heart and soul to whatever he chooses to sing. More than that, he loves his fellow man, and has involved himself in helping so many charities. His "GOODNESS" is rubbing off on everyone that he touches. It is becoming contagious. He is a wonderful role model for people of all ages..even me a grandma at 62. David has stayed grounded with his fatih and shows it daily. I am rooting for the good to win, I am a fan for life!!!

Rigbee....that was the most heartfelt comment I have read on here. David is a exceptional role model for our children today and that is what he they need so badly these days. He has the sweetest heart and he is an amazing singer. You know what I can't understand is all the fans had the same chance to vote for their favorite so why bash....David won fair and square and his fans voted hard on this poll just like they did for the TCA's and that is why he won all three of those. All these people are talented so why say bad things about the others when you had the same chance to vote as anyone else.

I actually never watched idol ~ just happen to catch David that very first night, and I've been hooked every since. There's something that just pulls you in and you just live in that happy place.
For those that don't follow him ~ and haven't seen him since idol ~ you'd probably be pretty shocked ~ I've been to 4 concerts already this year, and am attending another 4 at the end of the week.
David has been referenced in Forbes as a young philanthropist ~ his list of charities is endless ~ and the ArchAngels recently raised over $20,000 for dental care provided by RisingStarOutreach.
David has been blogging or vlogging every week to his fans since Idol ~ now he is on twitter ~ and responds to fans ~ he's having the time of his life. He's literally been touring since AI ~ he's done well over 200 performances.

The only time people cry foul is if there chosen one looses something. I voted for David in this poll. And judging by the comments so did most people. I adore him. He is in constant communication with his fans and his fan base has grown by leaps and bounds since idol. He recently also won Teen Choice Award for Breakout Artist, Best love song Crush and Favorite tour. Beating out Jbro, Lady Gaga, Pink and David Cook. I think many just don't realize how incredibly popular Archie is.
ARCHIE IS THE MOST TALENTED AND THE OTHER TWO DON'T LIKE GIRLS. OF COURSE DAVID WON THE OTHERS.
To put your mind at ease, Lori, the same thing happened to me. But I think it was due to the large volume of voting. I don't think that my votes went to one of the others, I think they were tabulated at the end.

I like Adam, but David Archuleta wins hands down. I've followed his career faithfully and have gone to two of his concerts. I will buy every album he releases including the new Christmas album due out soon. He is genuine in every respect, especially giving back to humanity by the charity work. Yeaaaa, David!

I will definitely be buying David Archuleta's Christmas album (can't wait for it) and his next CD in 2010. I am a huge fan and supporter of David's and will always support him as long as I am here and as long as he is singing (which I hope is for a very very long time)!
David has the most beautiful and soulful voice and sincere nature. In my opinion he is very rare in the music industry, I adore him and his music. By the way I am no teen or tween, I'm an older fan of David's and there are a lot of us out there!
