David Archuleta's fans organize a "Twitter Trending Party" to add buzz to his upcoming holiday album, Christmas From The Heart.
If there is one problem David Archuleta does not have, that is lack or shortage of fans. The American Idol runner up is adored by many, very enthusiastic fans (as was unscientifically proven in this site's popularity poll, which he won.) And now, those fans are doing everything they can to help him sell as many copies as possible of his upcoming album Christmas From The Heart, out on October 13th.
The record is very popular on Amazon pre-orders, with spots in both the Bestsellers and the Holiday rankings. And now, in an attempt to make it even more popular, and give David Archuleta a boost in the social media category, his fans are getting together for a "Twitter Trending Party." The following tweet was recently posted on fan FSteven's twitter timeline: "#ArchuletaXmasCD Twitter Trending Party: Wed, 14 October @ 7AM Singapore/Hongkong/Malaysia/Philippines, 8AM Tokyo, 4:30AM India."
What does all that mean, you ask? First, the words folowing the "#" are what is called a hashtag, keywords designed to make certain words and topics easier to find when digging through millions of tweets during a search. Second, trending is the act of getting a certain word or group of words to be featured as the most talked about topics on Twitter, a list that can be seen on user accounts and on the Twitter homepage. The higher up on the list a trend is, the more popular it is. Evidently, what the David Archuleta fans are trying to do is get as many people as possible to talk (well, tweet) about his album at the same time, in an attempt to get Christmas From The Heart on the trends list. That would increase its popularity, and ultimately the record sales.
Will it work? That will depend on David Archuleta's fans. And in the end, only October 13th, and Twitter, will tell.

love love love this guy. He has it all....looks, talent, and the sweetest personality anyone can have. I will support him forever and ever. There is nothing phony about him...he is the real thing. I could listen to him sing all day. I loved the People Mag. photo shoot of him and Rick S. Both were so cute on that video and when Rick told David his mom was hot. I believe David Archuleta's Christmas CD will be beautifully done. He has an awesome voice and the producers I know about have worked with some of the best out there. I will be trending #ArchuletaXmasCD on the 13th at 7pm EST.

I don't have twitter but I think it's a great idea since it supports him in a specific way and isn't just random "spam".
The funny thing about Archuleta is that he has never asked his fans to do anything and always is supporting other artists, songs, etc. in his twitter, blogs etc. He just puts his music and his respect/love for his fans out there and all that love bounces back onto him freely from every person that he meets. Ok, now I will go watch Zero Gravity and Contigo en la Distancia on youtube!

Oct 13 is almost here and I can't wait to get David Archuleta's holiday album "Christmas From the Heart" in my hands and playing on my iPod. I just think David is an AMAZING singer / songwriter. I love going to his concerts to hear his awesome soulful / pop sound and to meet up with other fans. I had the amazing experience to meet David this past summer and he is as beautiful on the inside as the outside. I will be a fan of David's forever. And there is a digital download of David's holiday available tomorrow...may have to stay up past midnight tonight to get that - ha ha
