Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards made their TNA Impact Wrestling debuts on Thursday night and it was all in a backstage segment. According to prowrestling.com on Jan. 17, Richards said that it was just the beginning and big changes are coming.
The backstage segment was with TNA Impact Wrestling president Dixie Carter who was meeting with the American Wolves and saying she saw a lot of their tapes and work and looked forward to their tryout match next week. Davey and Eddie looked at her strangely and said they were beyond a tryout match and they already signed their new contracts.
That is when Dixie Carter learned there was a new TNA Impact Wrestling investor who signed them.
There are a couple of notes from this promo. First of all, this starts a new "investor" storyline that will apparently see someone taking some power away from Carter, bringing in another struggle for power storyline. Some say it was also a dig at Jeff Jarrett, who recently quit the company but remains a minor investor.
The second thing is that the segment took a shot at the WWE, who had the American Wolves wrestle a tryout match for their developmental system. The Wolves did well in the match, but Triple H found a reason to dismiss them anyway despite the praise they received from the match.
As for the changes that Davey Richards promised, there are rumors that TNA Impact Wrestling has reached out to names like Roderick Strong to jump ship from Ring of Honor to TNA and Jay Lethal has also been rumored about returning. If this happens, it will hurt Ring of Honor, but with AJ Styles jumping ship and heading to Ring of Honor, it seems that ROH is still getting the better of the deal so far.
