Dave Herrero & The Hero Brothers Band launch grassroots campaign among music fans on Kickstarter.com to raise funds to record their next album. Dave Herrero is currently working on what could well be his breakout album and is seeking help from the local community to realize this vision. Dave and the Band have caught the attention of two of the best indie Chicago labels around and are hopeful that this new album will be the one that will secure them a recording contract.
They have virtually everything lined up: the songs, the engineers, the producers, the studios (including a chance to record key parts of the album at the former home of the legendary CHESS STUDIOS) and even a cameo from young blues champion Cedric Burnside! All that remains is the funding to do it right. For that, they are turning to their fan base and Chicago’s music-loving public to help them raise a minimum of $4,000. Their one month window closes on August 8th. Like any Kickstarter campaign, it’s all or nothing. They either raise the amount they seek and their fans get their choice from a host of exclusive rewards, or the project ends and the fans keep their pledged donations. The band launched their Kickstarter campaign on July 7th. Anyone wishing to get involved in this project should go to www.kickstarter.com anytime before August 8th, and search “Dave Herrero.” At that page, there will be additional information about the album, as well as the various levels of support.
Kickstarter.com is the new, highly-acclaimed funding platform that gives artists the means to raise both funds and awareness for their projects while giving fans a way to not only get involved with the artist, but also get rewarded in return. So each contribution level comes with a unique reward attached.
“Our fans have been very loyal to us over the years and we are very excited about this new album,” said Dave Herrero. “Our campaign through Kickstarter is perfect because it lets music lovers be part of the process of getting music made. For us, that’s amazing because it’s what music is all about, that connection between the music and the energy they bring to it. And, with sweet rewards for every donation, everybody wins.”
To date, Dave Herrero has self-produced two previous albums, the most recent being “Austin to Chicago” – with his current band, featuring guitarist and songwriter Felix Reyes. That album was nominated for Illinois Blues Debut Album of the Year Award 2009, and since then, they have been playing regularly in and around Chicago, touring the U.S., and just returned from a six-week tour of Europe in April, and one week in Mexico City. The new album, presently untitled, will be more of what they do best – blues/roots music with a modern vibe. The track list will consist primarily of original songs, along with a couple of well-honed covers.
