Big surprise dropped yesterday, no, not that one, the other one, Live Nation announced that comedian Dave Chappelle will be performing at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Pa., next Saturday Dec. 21. For those of you who missed Chappelle on the Oddball Comedy Festival Tour this past summer at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ, I'm sorry, but now you have the opportunity to see one of the best straight shooters of comedy at Philadelphia's most intimate venue. If you are a fan of comedians, seeing Dave Chappelle do stand-up is an experience you will remember for life, and not because of any controversial mishaps or "so called" temperamental outbursts, but because you get an evening inside the man's clever mind. He may joke that he's older and his leather jacket is too tight, but he is sharp as a tack, slicker than Rick, and above all hilarious.
Chappelle addressed the Hartford, CT, incident the night he performed at the Susquehanna Bank Center in the classiest of ways. He admitted the occurrence was a combination of him being in a bad mood and a drunk member in the audience, further explaining, not a good mix. Dave Chappelle had a great show at the SB Center, with the help of some good vibes from the crowd and no rude interruptions, thank goodness. He performed for two hours, oblivious of time because he was enjoying himself and had the room to be himself without anyone ruining it. The comedian continued on about how much he loved the people of Philly, he even let a woman come up on stage and hug him, maybe that's why he's coming back for more.
Tickets to Dave Chappelle at the Tower Theater are on sale now and you can get them here. Warning: You will leave with a pain in your side at the end of the evening.
