Heat Vision has learned today of another piece of casting in the upcoming Marvel film “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Wrestler Dave Bautista (“The Man with the Iron Fists”) has been cast as Drax the Destroyer, a human who was reborn into a new body that grants him extreme strength, speed, flight, and energy blasts.
He joins Chris Pratt (“Zero Dark Thirty”) as Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord), a human-alien hybrid and leader of the group.
The movie will center on Quill, a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone want.
There are still three major characters to be cast, but I think only two will end up in the final product for this film: Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Gamora.
While Bautista isn’t the greatest actor he is very intimidating physically, and as long as they have him keep his mouth shut and whoop some ass we should be in for a treat.
The movie is in production now for a summer 2013 release.
