Chris Daughtry might not be the King of Pop but his band is the new king of this weeks Comprehensive Album Sales Charts. Hits Daily Double is reporting that Daughtry's 19/RCA/RMG album Leave This Town landed at #1 with just over 270,000 copies sold. Leave this Town is the first album to successfully bump Michael Jackson Number Ones from the top spot.
After a week of great reviews and a number of television appearances it appears the American Idol alum has avoided the sophomore slump. This is Daughtry’s first reign at number one on the album sales chart’s The bands four times platinum debut album was unable to ever gain that title despite the fact that it sold more units it's first week at 304,000 copies sold.
Singer Chris Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely recorded Leave This Town with producer Howard Benson. The band's first single from Leave This Town "No Surprise" is quickly rising on the pop charts and is currently the number one video on VH1.
"This album is special because it's our first together as a band," Chris Daughtry said. "We poured our hearts into these songs to make the record we've always dreamed about. To have people respond the way they have is extremely gratifying, but even more humbling."
Daughtry is currently finishing up their press tour for Leave This Town and will be hitting the road for a thirteen city U.S. tour. Daughtry will be in Minneapolis on August 9th at the Cabooze. For more information visit Daughtry online at http://www.daughtryofficial.com.

The first album went #1 twice on Top on the Bilboard Chart. In it's 9th week and 15th week I believe? This is the first album to debut at #1 though.
It really doesnt matter if Dautry sold 270,000 "pieces" of his album!
Michael Jackson still rules the charts as the KING selling almost 670,000 pieces this week, since 25.6. MJ has sold over 9 mill. copies of albums and 15 mill. singles and over 1 mill. DVDs. ... just 4 weeks after Michael has left the wonderful world...
Too bad he had to die to start making sales again.
