"Daughter of Smoke and Bone" on the Road to a Movie Version

Daughter of Smoke and Bone, the amazing fantasy adventure novel from Laini Taylor, is closer to Hollywood as of today! It was announced through MTV's Hollywood Crush this afternoon that the novel now has a screenwriter. Stuart Beattie has been given the job of transferring Taylor's book to the big screen. Joe Roth will be the film's producer.

Laini Taylor has expressed her excitement at the news and fans are likely to be thrilled about seeing Karou and Akiva in the flesh. For those unfamiliar with the book and its sequel, Days of Blood and Starlight, Daughter of Smoke and Bone is about a female art student living in Prague who has a strange connection to another world. When hand prints begin to be burned into doorways, a forgotten war begins anew and Karou, the art student, finds herself right in the middle of it. The big question, of course, is what role Akiva, the surprisingly familiar man she meets in extraordinary circumstances, plays in the war and in Karou's life.

As further news is released about the film, it will be exciting to see where the adaptation takes us.
