Perhaps it was supposed to be for his eyes only? “Dating Naked” contestant Jessie Nizewitz is suing VH1's parent company Viacom after the network aired uncensored footage of her most private parts following a naked romp on a beach with a male suitor. According to a report from People on Friday, the $10 million suit was filed in Manhattan and also cites two production companies for breach of contract after a shot of Nizewitz's crotch was not blurred out when the third episode of the reality show aired on TV.
Nizewitz, a 28-year-old model, said producers of the outrageous reality show promised that shots of her naked body would be appropriately concealed, but that didn’t happen when footage aired of her wrestling on the beach with a male contestant.
While People quoted the lawsuit as saying Nizewitz endured "severe emotional distress, mental anguish, humiliation, and embarrassment" after the editing faux pas, that’s not the worst of it. Nizewitz told the New York Post that the man she had been seeing for a month never called her again after the episode aired. “I would have hoped we could have had a long-term relationship,” she said. “He was employed, Jewish, in his 30s and that’s pretty much ideal.”
In a statement to Entertainment Weekly released through her attorney, the New York based model said that while she had no problem with people seeing her on TV in a bikini, the VH1 censors didn’t deliver what was promised to her.
“Although I went on this show knowing that I would be nude while taping it I was told that my private parts would be blurred for TV,” she explained. “If you watch an episode, you will see that the blur actually makes it less revealing than a bikini would. Obviously, I did not expect the world to see my private parts, this is not what I anticipated or what any other contestants on the show anticipated."
In the aftermath of the accidental airing, uncensored images of Nizewitz have gone viral on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Tumblr.
While the premise of “Dating Naked” is unconventional, to say the least – yes, it’s a nude dating show -- it seems to have trumped more traditional shows like “The Bachelor” when it comes to making successful matches. According to EW.com, six couples who have met on the show have stayed together, and there will even be a “Dating Naked” wedding special next month.
The one-hour “Dating Naked Wedding Special” will air Sept. 18 at 9 p.m., while the show’s season finale airs Sept. 25 on VH1.
