Famed luxury auction house Bonhams in Paris released details on Saturday regarding the upcoming auction of Pope Francis's Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The auction is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 6 and the proceeds will benefit the charity Caritas Roma.

The Dyna Super Glide is a 1,585 cc and has "Francesco" signed on its tank. The bike was originally presented to the pontiff during the Motor Company's 110th anniversary celebrations in Rome last June; there's yet to be confirmation on whether Francis has taken the bike for a spin around St. Peter's.

"I suspect that it will (have) a very limited mileage," said Ben Walker, head of motorcycles at Bonhams.

Francis is well known for his leanings toward modest forms of transportation and felt it would be better to sell the bike as the funds will help with the renovations of Don Luigi di Liegro which is a hostel and soup kitchen located in the Termini rail station in central Rome.

The bike will be auctioned at the Grand Palais in Paris as part of Bonham's Les Grandes Marques du Monde sale. It has an estimated worth of 12,000-15,000 euros ($16,400-$20,500).

A new Harley Davidson leather jacket, which was also signed by the pope, is not included in the auction but will be sold immediately after the motorcycle.

($1 = 0.7314 euros)
