After hosting a very successful Coaches vs. Cancer Golf Tournament in 2011, the volunteer event chair and the American Cancer Society confirmed a date and location for the second annual golf tournament: May 31, 2012 at Redhawk Golf and Resort.
Ryan Gilbrech, a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and this year’s event chair also confirmed the return of UNR Men’s Basketball Coach David Carter as the honorary co-chair. “Coach and his team are off to a great start,” states Gilbrech, “He still manages to check in with us, that shows his commitment to the mission.” This year funds raised from the golf tournament will support the American Cancer Society’s local fuel assistance program.
The fuel assistance program is one of many programs the American Cancer Society offers to patients in Northern Nevada. As an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society, Gilbrech works closely with staff and volunteers to ensure that programs and services are available to members of the community. “As a volunteer I am proud to team up with coach and provide an opportunity for sponsors and players to give back to the community by participating in this year’s golf tournament.”
The cost of the tournament is $500 per foursome or $150 per player. Gilbrech is currently recruiting volunteers, sponsors and players. For more information regarding the tournament contact the American Cancer Society office 775-828-3200.
The American Cancer Society assists with limited financial assistance in the form of gas cards for patients to help with the cost of getting to and from cancer related medical appointments. The patient must meet all program guidelines and must be traveling to a cancer related medical appointment. Cards can be used at any gas station that accepts American Express credit cards.
