I miss when the kids were little. I long for long days of play. Even when I had a child or two in preschool, we had plenty of family time. There was no homework. No chores...probably should have started chores back when the kids were little...ooops...making up for lost time now that the kids are older!
With first one, then two, and now three children in full-day school, our family's days and evenings are scheduled to the hilt. Homework takes up a huge chunk of time. While I would love to relive the days of my youth and drop everything and go out with my husband, we just have very little time. But, spending time with your spouse is essential...trust me.

The Melting Pot
Just in time for spending that special time with your spouse, The Melting Pot is celebrating Maryland Day with a special four-course meal full of regional delights. The Maryland Day event at The Melting Pot will last from March 22 through March 30. So, what is Maryland Day? I have to admit that though I have lived in Maryland since the mid 80s, I didn't know anything about Maryland Day. The holiday began in 1903 to honor Maryland’s history of the landing of the first European settlers in Maryland on March 25, 1634. .
The Maryland Days Menu features a four-course meal:
- Cheese Fondue -- Creamy Lump-Crab Cheese prepared table-side with assorted breads, fresh vegetables and fruit for dipping.
- Cherry Blossom Salad -- Mixed Field greens, Dried Cherries, Candied Pecans topped with our homemade Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette Dressing
- Maryland Entrée -- Old Bay Chicken Breast, Flying Dog Hefeweizen Shrimp, Scallops, Filet Mignon, Baby Sweet Corn served with our variety of homemade sauces and fresh garden vegetables.
- Chocolate Fondue -- Your choice of Milk, White or Dark Chocolate topped with Berger Cookie crumbles.
The price for the four-course meal of regional delights is $40 per person. If you are a beer lover, try the beer flight from the Flying Dog brewery in Frederick, MD, for $45 per person. The Melting Pot is located at 10451 Twin Rivers Rd. #130, Columbia, Maryland.

Have you ventured to historic Ellicott City? Historic Ellicott City is home to Tersiguel's French Country Restaurant. Tersiguel's, located in a 19th century home, features fine dining in six individual dining rooms perfect for that romantic dinner for two.
For a special night out with couples, try the Prixe-Fixe menu for tables with six guests or fewer. The Prix-Fixe menu is $39.95 per person. The menu features Salade Maison ou Pâté or Soupe de Poisson or Soupe Parmentier; Poulet or Choucroute or Saumon; and Glace or Sorbet or Crème Caramel au Café.
