There is good news and bad news about Montclair Bistro.

We always like to start off with the good news first.

The Montclair Bistro is making you an offer you can't refuse for date night. Why wait until Friday when on Tuesday August 12, 2014 you can take advantage of one of the best opportunities in the Bay Area to impression someone special.

Once again Montclair Bistro has a Steamed Whole Maine Lobster meal for just $20. This is an opportunity that really should not be missed. Your meal will consist of a whole steamed lobster, rice pilaf and corn on the cob. If you prefer your lobster cracked their is an additional charge of $4 that will be added.

If you are not in the mood for seafood you may also enjoy Filet Mignon for $20 as well. Your filet will be cooked rare, medium rare, medium well or well, you decide. Your meal will also consist of Anna potatoes, Marsala spinach and topped with a Panko crusted lobster cake. This is a masterpiece waiting to be devoured.

Now for the bad news.

In early September Montclair Bistro will close due to change of ownership. This has been a great local establishment for the past 10 years. Owner and Chef Henry Vortriede has decided not to renew his lease. This is a place that has been known for not just great food but great service as well.

In order to make a lasting impression and go out with style on Monday August 25th Chef Henry will feature Rombauer Vineyards Wine Dinner for $95. This will be the final wine dinner at the Bistro. Hors d' Oeuvres will start at 6:00 pm and dinner will start around 6:30.

The First Course of the meal will consist of avocado watermelon carpaccio and en belle vue sunflower kernels with a chardonnay vinaigrette. (Rombauer Chardonnay will be featured)

The Second Course will consist of sautéed wild caught eastern perch with a merlot reduction, jasmine rice croquette and edamame peas. (Rombauer Merlot will be featured)

The Third Course will consist of short rib of angus beef wellington, mushroom duxelles, summer squash ribbons and lintel succotash. (Rombauer Cabernet Sauvignon will be featured)

For the Dessert Course farm cherries montmorency, jubilee cherry gelato and granola croquant crusted petit cherry pie. (Rombauer "Joy" Late Harvest Chardonnay will be featured)

Montclair Bistro has been a great place for date night, a special occasion or just because. Hats off to Chef Henry and the staff. Don't forget the doors will close in early September so make sure you make a reservation before then.
