The Houston Dash made another big splash on Friday, January 24, 2014 with the announcement of their signing of Japanese international Aya Sameshima.
Sameshima is a left back with a plethora of international experience. The 26 year old defender played on the 2010 Japanese team that won the Asian Games and started all six matches in the Japan's run to the 2011 FIFA World Cup title and was an integral part of Japan's silver medal performance at the 2012 London Olympics.
With 52 caps and experience in the WSL (Boston Breakers 2011) to her credit, the seven year professional offers Houston and head coach Randy Waldrum stability and experience on the backline.
"Sameshima is a world-class player who is gifted, who is very technical, and as great ability to get forward and out of the back and into the attack," said Waldrum.
