The "Ghost Man of Galveston", Dash Beardsley, will host a once in a lifetime event, open to the public ($75 per person), on Pelican Island, at the Seawolf Park in Galveston, Texas. Guests, along with the ghost hunting crew from Dash Beardsley's Ghost Tours of Galveston, will spend the night searching for and documenting evidence of the paranormal, within the corridors of the USS Cavalla 244 and the USS Stewart Destroyer Escort 238. The Cavalla is a Gato class submarine that served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. The USS Stewart is a World War II era Edsall Class Destroyer Escort. It was commissioned into active sercive on May 31, 1943. While standing on Pelican Island, what is left of the SS Selma WW I reinforced concrete tanker, can be seen emerging proudly from the Gulf waters. Launched in 1919, the Selma has also been known to have spirits from the past.
As the sun sets on October 25th and 26th, Pelican Island and the Gulf waters surrounding it will be the backdrop of this historically significant ghost hunt. There are many schools of thought, in the paranormal and scientific community, about water and the effects of water somehow holding energy and possibly memories of the past. Researchers at the Heartmath Research Centre have found that water exposed to weak electromagnetic fields has the property of amplifying the signal many times which feeds into the theories of an island, such as Galveston Island and/or Pelican Island, having a constant energy source that can hold on to the energy that is left behind by tragedies and lives of the past.
"Evidence from workers on Pelican Island reveal ongoing hauntings on the vessels and we want to help them find out exactly what is going on," explained Dash Beardsley.
In previous years, Dash and his crew have explored Menard House, Ashton Villa and they take guests through the streeets of the Strand downtown area on a nightly basis as part of their Orginal Strand Ghost Tour and Restless Spirits Tour along with the Secret Society Cemetery Tour at the Broadway, Old City Cemetery at 43rd and Broadway.
