According to Inside TV on Feb. 4, it looks like Daryl and Tyrese from “The Walking Dead” will be making choices of whether or not to leave Rick Grimes group.
Glen Mazzara, the show runner and producer, hinted that his last episodes may indicate some tough decisions among the characters. Also, Mazzara hints that there may be a major character from the comic on the horizon.
Tyrese, a character from “The Walking Dead”, is introduced in a short scene with his small group encountering the new “inmates” and is faced with a debate on whether or not they should take the prison for themselves based upon the current state of Rick’s group. One might wonder what would happen if Rick happened to return and find them.
According to Mazzara, Rick’s state of mind after the loss of his wife has possibly left him in a fragile state and leaves other people in the group questioning his ability to lead. Also, the mid-season climax finishes with the Dixon brothers squaring off in a fighting match organized by The Governor. The decision to take sides starts to become apparent. Considering what Daryl has been through in his tenure with Rick's group, Mazzara reveals the details of what has happened up until this point.
"Daryl has spent the last year with Rick and this group, and he has worked very hard to wrestle his past demons and to become a very, very valuable member of Rick’s band. So much so that we saw him step up as the number two after Lori’s death. He’s really the one who takes leadership of the group when Rick is lost in the tombs and the boiler room after Lori’s death. Now he’ll have to make choices after discovering that his brother is alive and his brother is on the opposing side. Daryl is caught in the middle and has to make choices. Can he try to bring everyone together, or does he pick a side, or does he have to go up against Rick in some way? I think it’s a very interesting arc. Norman Reedus is fantastic to work with and I think he’s got some pretty amazing work in the back half of the season".
Season three of “The Walking Dead” will continue this Sunday, Feb 10 on AMC.
