Former NFL star Darren Sharper has turned himself into the authorities in Los Angeles, according to the NY Daily News on the morning of Feb. 28, 2014. The Former New Orleans Saints' defensive star was wanted in the city of New Orleans with the alleged rapes of two women.
Sharper did surrender to the police without an incident of any kind, and the arrest was confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department, but no details were provided.
Earlier on Thursday, the Orleans Parish district attorney's office reported that both the 38-year-old Sharper and 26-year-old Erik Nunez face two counts of aggravated rape each. Both men face a possible sentence of life in prison if convicted.
Now, these charges in New Orleans are on top of Sharper's charges that he already faces in California. Those charges, which included two counts of rape by use of drugs, have already seen Sharper plead not guilty to them.
The alleged rapes in New Orleans were said to have occurred in an apartment on Sept. 23, 2013. The alleged rape charges in California happened in October of 2013 and in January of 2014. Prosecutors have said that Darren sharper is also under investigation in Arizona and Nevada.
In January, a woman in Florida also filed a sexual battery complaint against Sharper stemming from an incident in 2012.
During his time in the NFL, Sharper played for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Saints.
