Manchester United and Scottish international defensive midfielder, Darren Fletcher has returned to training with the club in preparation for the upcoming English Premier League season according to The Sun.
Fletcher had been at the heart of Manchester United’s midfield formation for the last several years and started off strong last season until what at first only appeared to be a stomach virus saw him sidelined by illness.
However, what was thought only to be a stomach flu bug turned out to be much worse as the illness that coursed through his body nearly ended his footballing career. Fletcher missed the entire 2011-12 season aside from the opening months and was believed doubtful for this coming year.
The player himself refused to give up and after nearly a year out, Fletcher looks ready to start making his comeback. The only fear will be that his body was so physically damaged that he will take a long time to recover his fitness.
