“Glee” star Darren Criss attended the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25, wearing a well-fitted purple suit, sparkly wing-tipped shoes, a black shirt, coordinating tie and, wait for it – purple nail polish! The dashing young actor tweeted a photo of his nails to his followers, saying:
“Sometimes it's just time for purple.”
Darren obviously embraced his purple vibe from his head to his toes. (If anyone can rock a purple suit, he can!) In fact, “Zap2It” placed Darren Criss on the Best Dressed Male list for the VMAs. Cue up some Prince here: “Purple reign, Purple reign …” (Yes, we know Prince spells it the other way!)
There’s simply no denying Darren looked dapper at his first ever VMA Awards. He also paid a huge Twitter compliment to music icon Justin Timberlake, who took home the night’s biggest award for Video of the Year for his hit “Mirrors.”
Darren said, “Not like everyone didn't know it already, but @jtimberlake truly is one of the coolest people on the planet.”
Isn't it cool that Darren sent out props to JT, having danced around as Blaine in the “Bye Bye Bye” puppet strings on “Glee” last season?
“Eonline” caught up with Darren on the VMA red carpet and asked him if he could share any news about the upcoming Finn Hudson tribute episode, which is currently being filmed.
Darren didn't offer any specific details, but did say, “It's tough to shoot. It's something that needs to happen for the fans. I don't know; it's going to be tough. But it will be very poignant and hopefully very moving, and just that: a tribute. Hopefully it will be a good tribute to Cory."
While Finn’s episode is certain to be beyond sad, Klaine fans apparently have something happy to look forward to. On Aug. 20, “Eonline” published a photo of Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine kissing, which will happen during the season opening two-part Beatles tribute episode. According to the report, the kiss happens during a duet of “Got to Get You Into My Life.”
Watching Klaine lock lips is good news indeed – however, we can’t be sure if the kiss is real or imagined. Remember the “Come What May” fantasy in season four? And, the question still looms large as to whether or not Blaine is going to work up the nerve to propose to Kurt. Maybe the kiss is Blaine's way of imagining his proposal and a happy ending. Fantasy or fact, it’ll be nice to see the fan favorite couple back together performing what is sure to be an amazing duet.
Outside of “Glee,” Darren Criss has had a busy summer promoting his upcoming solo CD on a 17-city sold out tour (which included a return to his U of M alma mater town, Ann Arbor), enjoying the release of his first big screen effort, “Girl Most Likely,” and sharing the hosting stage for this year’s Teen Choice Awards with “Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale.
“Glee” returns on Thursday, Sept. 26 on WSMH FOX66 in Flint at 9 p.m. EST.
