Darrell Wallace Jr. will race full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2013, driving a No. 54 Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports, according to an announcement from Joe Gibbs Racing on Saturday.
"I can't wait to get started," Wallace said. "I appreciate everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing and Kyle Busch Motorsports for working this out and providing me the opportunity to compete for Rookie of the Year and the championship in the Truck Series. Having the opportunity to run a full season in the Tundra is exciting."
Wallace has yet to compete in the Camping World Truck Series, but he made four starts in the Nationwide Series for JGR while competing full-time in the K&N Pro Series East. In those four races, Wallace produced three top-10 finishes. His best Nationwide Series finish was a seventh-place showing at Iowa Speedway.
"We have a great deal of confidence in Darrell, and this is a big step in his career," JGR owner Joe Gibbs said.
Wallace joins Joey Coulter as full-time drivers for KBM in the Truck Series for 2013.
"Having Darrell run a full season along with Joey Coulter gives us two exciting drivers to help further grow our organization," KBM owner Kyle Busch said. "I've had the opportunity to race with Darrell, and he has proven himself at each level. I can't wait to see him in one of our Tundras."
