Maxis has announced the beginning of the five-week beta period for Darkspore, the upcoming online action RPG. Darkspore isn't scheduled to release until March 29th, but players who have registered have a chance to be selected to play in one of the upcoming beta periods.
“Darkspore is inspired in part by the award-winning creature editor tech of Spore, but also in large part from the team’s own passion for gaming and prior experience,” says Lucy Bradshaw, General Manager of Maxis Studio. "The team has combined these inspirations to produce a unique take on the action RPG genre.”
Along with the beta announcement, Maxis has released a trailer showcasing some of the features and highlights players will be able to experience in Darkspore.
Darkspore allows players to customize, upgrade, and level up through various planetary levels where selecting the right squad and selection of abilities make all the difference in survival. Darkspore supports four-player co-op play as well as multiplayer battles.
