Tomohiro Shibuya has revealed some new information on Jan. 29 in regards to the connection between the worlds of “Dark Souls” with the upcoming multiplatform title, “Dark Souls 2.” In an interview with EDGE, the game director disclosed that the sequel will be “somewhere completely different” from the Lordan Kingdom, which he likened to Earth, in the first game. He also mentioned that there won’t be any direct interactivity between the two worlds. You can check out some screens from the action role-playing game in the slideshow at the top of this article and the full comments from Tomohiro Shibuya below (courtesy of EDGE):
The name of the world will be key to the story. We will reveal it eventually, but not in the first announcement. If Lordran was to be an area in a world called, say, Earth, the setting of this game will be somewhere completely different. The two places won’t necessarily interact directly with each other, but, from a visual concept [standpoint] at least, it will be within the same world.
Tomohiro Shibuya is one of the two new directors behind “Dark Souls 2” with the other one being Yui Tanimura. The sequel to “Dark Souls,” which is being developed by From Software and will be published by Namco Bandai Games, will be released for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 systems in North America sometime in 2013 or 2014.
