New details have been revealed regarding two new elements in the upcoming “Dark Souls 2” for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. According to a preview article from Telegraph on Feb. 9, From Software decided to add stat reset and voice chat options to the open-world action role-playing game.
Players will be able to acquire an item that would give players the opportunity to reassign stat points earned from leveling. As players go up to another level, they are allotted a certain amount of points to improve on specific areas of a character. In “Dark Souls” and “Demon’s Souls” the changes remain permanent. For the sequel, however, the development team decided to give the player a reprieve in case he or she did not like the current character build.
Another new element in “Dark Souls 2” is the inclusion of voice chat. In the previous two installments, players have no form of communication aside from a few body movements. The sequel now allows them to talk, which should most likely improve on the cooperative play.
The new changes streamline the experience to newcomers. At the same time, stat reset and voice chat may also upset long time fans of the series. You can take a look at “Dark Souls 2,” which is coming out on March 18th, in the slideshow gallery to the left of this article.
