Several changes have been revealed in regards to the phantom system for the upcoming multiplatform video game, “Dark Souls 2.” According to a report by Gameranx on Oct. 1, From Software has added several advantages and disadvantages to the cooperative elements of the open-world action role-playing game.
One of the advantages of summoning phantoms in “Dark Souls 2” when compared to the first game in the series is that your cooperative partners will stick around even after you lit a bon fire. Your helpers can also heal by themselves although the restoration process will be slow.
However, you will now be put under a time limit while playing as a phantom in “Dark Souls 2.” The amount of time you can help another player depends on the size of the white soapstone item that was used to summon your spirit. Furthermore, killing enemies in another player’s game will further decrease the amount of time you have left. Once you used up your allotted time, you will return to your game with a "Task Completed" message.
In “Dark Souls 2” players can summon help from others under special circumstances. Playing online will also leave open the possibility of another player invading your game with the idea of killing you.
Namco Bandai Games recent announced that “Dark Souls 2” will be released on March 11 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The PC version should be coming out shortly after the console launches.
