Famitsu has posted a review score for the upcoming Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 video game, “Dark Souls 2.” According to a report from Gematsu on March 4, the open-world action role-playing game received high praise by the editors of the Japanese publication.

The console versions of “Dark Souls 2” received a 10, 9, 9 and 9 scores from the four reviewers. It ended up with a 37 out of a possible 40. In comparison, the first “Dark Souls” video game also got the same overall score as the sequel. Despite being highly-praised by the western media, “Demon’s Souls” only got a 29 from Famitsu.

“Dark Souls 2” features several improvements when compared to its predecessors. The choppy frame rate from the previous games appears to have been smoothed out due to an upgraded graphics engine. The online features also got enhanced thanks to the change from the peer-to-peer connections to dedicated server support.

“Dark Souls 2” will be published by Bandai Namco Games when it launches for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 11. The PC port would also be coming out at a later time.

The open-world action role-playing game is not being developed for the PS4 and Xbox One currently despite some interests being shown at Form Software, the studio behind the product’s development.
