The Katy Perry single “Dark Horse,” taken from her latest (already platinum) album “Prism,” had been performing like a thoroughbred before her appearance on this year’s GRAMMY Awards show. But sales shot through the stratosphere after Perry performed the song on the show, pushing the record to the coveted #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
Perry is no stranger to the lofty chart position; “Dark Horse” is the 9th single that she’s managed to lodge at the top. Some of Katy’s other #1 hit singles include “Firework,” “Roar,” “Teenage Dream,” “E.T.” with Kanye West and “California Gurls” with Snoop Dogg. Late last summer Katy's fans, known as the KatyCats, voted to have "Dark Horse" released as a single before "Prism" was released.
Perry is slated to begin rehearsals for her Prismatic World Tour soon. The tour begins in Europe in May, and the North American leg of the tour kicks off in June. Originally slated to be 46 shows, the North American portion of the Prismatic World Tour has now been expanded to 62 gigs.
