For the fifth weekend, the White House has been closed to visitors as Sarah Palin’s “Death Panel” prediction comes to pass as Medicare decides they’re going to make their cuts by not treating cancer patients. Last week the Health and Human Services division of the Obama Administration announced that cancer patients over 65 on Medicare would not receive treatments for their disease. Accusations were immediately launched by both Democrats and Republicans, each naming the other as causing the debacle. Democrats say the sequester they blame on Republicans is the culprit for cutting 2% from the program. Republicans accuse the president and the $700 billion in funds transferred from Medicare to his ObamaCare program.
Obama blames sequester for Medicare cuts
Conservatives blame ObamaCare for draining Medicare
Democrats point the finger at Republican’s insistence that sequestration cuts of 2% from the 2013 federal budget is the reason cancer clinics have to suspend treatment of seniors with cancer. Republicans insist this is nonsense as sequestration cut 2% from increases in spending and that government is still spending more on Medicare this year than last year making the sequestration excuse invalid. Insisting that Obama cutting $700 billion from Medicare to put into ObamaCare is the real perpetrator for the drastic reduction in Medicare treatments, and that Obama has the choice of what programs to cut chose cancer treatments to bring the most pain. With both parties pointing fingers and no one getting to the bottom of the dilemma, seniors are left with a terminating illness untreated.
