The White House, America's seat of power and home to 44 presidents has been closed to the public on orders of Barack Obama. President Obama has, due to the sequester cuts being enacted, cuts which he himself proposed and whose effects he alone has the authority to dictate, decided to close the White House to tours by citizens. The volunteers who aide visitors in touring the East Wing of the heart of Washington, largely unpaid, were furloughed and the materials and assistance they give guests for self-guided tours put away during this national emergency of Democrats not getting all the money they want.

While Republicans call this act "silly," conservatives say it is worse than that. Rush Limbaugh described this action by the president as that of a petulant child who didn't get his way. Having used children many times to promote his agenda to transform America, Obama is now being chastised by children who are being denied a chance to visit the home of presidents.

President Obama actually called in a number of Republicans yesterday about the sequester cuts and upcoming debt ceiling and budget battle. Unfortunately, they were not me transparently but behind closed doors. Americans, while relieved that Obama and Holder announced that they needn't fear being droned (unless they pose an immediate threat; to the country or the president?) are shut out of the people's house until Obama changes his mind. Some have suggested he cut back on his golf trips and pet's handlers to afford to have volunteers give guests tours.
