Darius Rucker won the 2014 GRAMMY Award for Best Country Solo Performance during the pre-telecast on January 26. The winning single, “Wagon Wheel,” is from Darius Rucker’s “True Believers” album.

Though Darius Rucker took a lot of flack from some for his remake of the Old Crow Medicine Show song and even his presence, as a black man, in the country music genre, the nasty tweets of last year are surely a distant memory in light of his shiny new GRAMMY.

Darius Rucker’s version of “Wagon Wheel” has been certified Double Platinum by the RIAA and his 2014 GRAMMY win is his first since becoming a country music artist. “Wagon Wheel” won over the following fellow nominees:

“I Drive Your Truck “ - Lee Brice
“I Want Crazy” - Hunter Hayes
“Mama's Broken Heart” - Miranda Lambert
“Mine Would Be You” - Blake Shelton
