Capitol Nashville recording artist Darius Rucker has a lot to smile about these days. His album, Learn to Live has just been certified platinum by the RIAA for sales over one million copies. Rucker, of course, is no stranger to platinum success, having several albums go multi-platinum as part of Hootie & the Blowfish. The band's first album, Cracked Rear View has sold over 16 million copies, earning them a diamond certification. Learn to Live is Rucker's first country music album.
Capitol Records threw Darius a platinum party last week to celebrate the album's success. But, that wasn't the end of the celebration, as yesterday, he attended his latest #1 party for his single "Alright." All three of Rucker's singles ("Don't Think I Don't Think About It," "It Won't Be Like This For Long," and "Alright") have shot to #1 – making Darius the first artist in 17 years to have his first three singles hit the #1 spot on Billboard's Country Chart.
After his #1 party, Darius headed to the Grand Ole Opry, where he performed a free show for Samsung AT&T's 3rd Annual Summer Krush series. A portion of his performance was taped to air on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show this Thursday, August 27.
Darius continues to tour as the opening act on Rascal Flatts Unstoppable Tour, and will appear on the upcoming August 31 broadcast of "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock" special, which airs on ABC TV starting at 8:00 pm ET/PT.
