More details are coming in about the upcoming 2014 Housecore Horror Film Festival in Austin, TX. On July 16, 2014, the festival's official Facebook page confirmed that metal and punk icon Glenn Danzig will be headlining the festival.
He'll be performing two sets; one with the long running metal band that shares his name, and a second from his former band Samhain, the metal-punk-goth hybrid that predated his solo efforts but came after his horror punk band The Misfits.
The singer has always based his lyrics on both horror films, and morbid literature, as well as other dark subject matter, making him a perfect fit for the festival started last year by former Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo and author Corey Miller.
But it's also a controversial choice; the infamously temperamental singer threw a fit at 2011's Fun Fun Fun Fest, hitting the stage late and trying to start a riot. Hopefully festival attendees will catch him in a good mood this October, because he still packs a dynamic punch when firing on all cylinders.
Other band's announced this week include sludge metal legends Neurosis, comedian/metal performer Brian Posehn, and Polish band Decapitated. Click here for the full announcement.
But given this is a film festival, organizers have been more tight-lipped on the horror films and movie personalities that comprise the cinematic portion of the fest. Back in May, it was confirmed that Housecore would celebrate the 40th anniversary of 1974's 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre', screening the film alongside the original cast. But expect more announcements soon.
