Danville Public Works is having a meeting at the American Legion to discuss road traffic conditions of Jackson Street. Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday October 26, 2011 in the evening.
During the meeting, they plan to discuss adding a four-way stop or a roundabout to improve the road conditions. The big focus is the crossroad at Jackson and Voorhees near Edison Elementary School and North Ridge Middle School. They want to focus on pedestrian safety near the schools.
The meeting will address:
- Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety
- Road Conditions
- Adding a bicycle lane
- Improving the sidewalks
The city is concerned with traffic safety around the schools. The focus is to improve the road conditions by adding the sidewalks and a bicycle lane. By adding a bicycle lane near the school the roads will be safer for children arriving and leaving school.
Residents have expressed concern about the noise when the schools open and close. They are hoping to fix the crumbled road in the neighborhood, but there the community is divided over adding a four way stop or roundabout since strangers to the town will be confused when visiting Danville. The main concern is improving the town for the community residents. All residents are welcome.
