A Danvers murder is shaking a small, quiet community in Massachusetts after a teacher there was killed allegedly by a student. USA Today reports Oct. 23 in an updated post on the homicide investigation, that 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer was stabbed at the school before her body was dumped in a wooded area near Danvers High School. This was confirmed by Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.
The suspect's identity has been released. Philip Chism, 14, is being held without bail on a murder charge. Blodgett said he transferred to Danvers last year.
A search for Ritzer began Tuesday after police were called about her not arriving home after work. Blodgett said authorities found blood in a school bathroom before they discovered her body outside in the woods.
A motive for the Danvers murder hasn't been released.
The report noted that Chism played on Danvers' junior varsity soccer team. He went missing Tuesday after he failed to show up at home. Authorities located the teen at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. His association with the murdered teacher isn't yet known.
