Danvers homicide: A math teacher found dead Wednesday in a wooded area outside the Massachusetts high school where she teaches, is believed to be a murder committed by a 14-year-old student. Colleen Ritzer, 24, was discovered just after midnight near Danvers High School, NBC News reports Oct. 22.
Authorities said blood was discovered in a second-floor bathroom at the school. They now suspect a14-year-old boy is connected to Ritzer's death. Their search for him began the day before.
A motive for the killing or how the teacher died were not disclosed.
Ritzer's students were shocked at the news their teacher was found dead today. Many expressed their grief on Twitter. One student referred to Ritzer as “literally the sweetest, most harmless person ever. she always wanted to help anyone in any way she could.”
A candlelight vigil will be held at the high school Wednesday night.
Schools in Danvers were closed for the day as the homicide investigation continues.
