Danny Granger rumors have the LA Clippers and San Antonio Spurs ready to offer contracts. These Granger rumors come after a buyout by the Philadelphia 76ers was made official on Wednesday (Feb. 26). According to a report from ESPN, he is now scheduled to clear waivers at 5 p.m. ET on Friday (Feb. 28). That is when he can sign with a new team to finish out the 2014 NBA season.
In addition to the Clippers and Spurs, offers are expected to come from the Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets. All three teams could use a boost on offense, but they don't necessarily provide the same opportunity at a title run that the Spurs or Clippers could give him. The Rockets are certainly a contender in the 2014 NBA Playoffs, but they might be looking to sign him in order to keep an opponent from doing so.
When it comes to the team that has the advantage in these Danny Granger rumors it has to be the LA Clippers. With J.J. Redick injured, they could offer a starting spot for him. The San Antonio Spurs might offer a lot of bench minutes, but he would have to join a rotation rather than start the game on the court.
Things are certainly expected to heat up in the next few days, with one team seemingly bowing out of the chase for his services. It looks like the Miami Heat are focused on Caron Butler, who was close to a buyout with the Milwaukee Bucks and could also become a free agent soon.
