Danny Gokey having trouble corraling social networking
Danny Gokey, the almost popular American Idol contestant, used Twitter to call his own charity a "scam."
Seems that his charity "Sophia's Heart" was to benefit from the selling of Gokey merchandise at DannyGokeyGear.com, including glasses like those worn by the American Idol performer.
Then, after Gokey posted a Twitter message about the site — calling it a "scam" and claiming that his charity, Sophia's Heart,
"[has] not seen 1 penny nor been contacted"
the charity announced that it had been contacted an approved the deal with DannyGokeyGear.com.
Then someone hacked into his cousin's Facebook account and found a series of photos that showed Gokey and his family out with Adam Lambert, American Idol runner up, and other contestants. Seems that Gokey printed a photo of Lambert and brought it for an autograph.
Lambert wasn't hot on the idea (his displeasure showed in photos) but went along with Danny Gokey's request.
This entire exchange was preserved for posterity on the "Oh No They Didn't" online community. Sign this Picture is now the newest internet meme.
Commenters pointed out that Gokey had said the following in a live chat with Comcast on Wednesday:
"Yes. I accept gay people, but people have to accept my beliefs. We have to accept their beliefs, but they have to accept my beliefs. We agree to disagree. I don't judge people, but at the same time, if they believe in what they believe, they have to accept me and what I believe. But I accept anybody as they come. That's my character and my personality."
A Twitter hash tag was born — #gokeyisadouche — and it made it all the way to #1 on the site's Trending Topics (which it eventually did, overtaking #iranelection at the top of the list).
That, of course, caused even more people to begin Googling "Gokey is a douche" (because, really, most people had no idea what was happening), sending the term rocketing up the Google Trends list.
Twitter has removed #gokeyisadouche from its Trending Topics list, and the phrase has since fallen off Google Trends too.

Comments
You conveniently left out the fact that most of the facebook comments left for the pictures with Adam, the also-rans and the Gokeys were blatantly homophobic. Crappy journalism.
Next time try to get the story straight before you post. The moronic Gokey family member in question made the facebook public. Seems she was proud of all the homophobic crap she and her network of family and friends wrote online. And it wasn't just Lambert, it was a dinner for all the contestants during Idol. The only person who showed any class in this fiasco was unsurprisingly, Lambert, who even took the time to pose for pictures with the Gokey clan.
any idea on how this facebook white trash garbage can be circulated to major news entertainment shows? Gokey should not be allowed on the idol tour OR get a record label with 19. He knew what he was doing and I can see hem playing the innocent "oh! I had nothing to do with that, I'm a christian and I'm a good person". The look on Adam's face AND Lil Rounds says it all.
