Danny Glover portrays the President of the United States in disaster film 2012

Danny Lebern Glover is an actor, film director, and political activist. Glover is best known for his role as Mr. in The Color Purple and as Detective Roger Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon film franchise.

Danny Glover has had a variety of film, stage, and television roles, and is best known for playing Los Angeles police Sgt. Roger Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon series of action films with Mel Gibson.  Gone Fishin' a film Glover was part of shot in Florida with Totch Brown and in California.

Glover's cameo appearances have been in Top Gun, the Michael Jackson video Liberian Girl of 1987 and (reprising) his Detective Tapp role from the Saw franchise. Some believe this was a subtle hint to Det. Murtaugh-in that the fifth "Saw" movie had a police officer aptly named "Rigg" as well as Oprah's Beloved.

In 1994 Glover made his directorial debut with the Showtime channel short film Override. Also in 1994, Glover and actor Ben Guillory formed the Robey Theatre Company in Los Angeles, focusing on theatre by and about Black people.

He was featured in the popular 2001 film Royal Tenenbaums, also starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Anjelica Huston, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson.  In 2005, Glover and Joslyn Barnes announced plans to make No FEAR, a movie about Dr. Marsha Coleman-Adebayo's experience. Glover has also been a voice actor in many children's movies.

Glover has attended a variety of film festivals, in particular the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.  He has also been in support of the documentary The Garden.  Acting in July 4th-related films was common place for his acting co-hart Mel Gibson.  Honeydripper is a 2007 American musical drama film written and directed by John Sayles, starring Glover.

Emmerich arrived in Moscow to promote his movie '2012', which he is calling his final disaster movie. The story is based on the Mayan calendar's assertion that the world will end in 2012. John Cusack plays the lead role and the movie also stars Predator 1's Danny Glover, Amanda Peet, Woody Harrelson and Beloved's Thandie Newton. The movie is released worldwide. 

Danny Glover and singer Harry Belafonte attended the inauguration of a new center that promotes Caribbean cinema in Havana, Friday, Sept. 18, 2009. Belafonte said he was disappointed President Barack Obama has not done more to improve relations with the communist-run island, but that he was hopeful progress would come soon.

Glover is set to play President Wilson, the President of the United States in the film 2012.  It is a disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich, which is scheduled for release in theaters November 13, 2009.
