Unified junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia announced Friday that he will fight Mauricio Herrera on March 15.

Garcia (27-0, 16 KOs) is slated to defend his crowns against the 33-year-old Herrera (18-3, 7 KOs) at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Puerto Rico.

“It’s official,” Garcia, 25, said via Facebook. “I’m fighting March 15 in Puerto Rico.”

A native Philadelphian, Garcia last exited the squared circle in September after universally outscoring Lucas Matthysse.

Initially, Matthysse (34-3-0-1, 32 KOs) looked solid and was handling Garcia.

However, “Swift Danny” closed Matthysse’s right eye in the seventh round and the tough Argentinean was unable to rally from the wound.

Unfortunately for boxing fans, Garcia’s decision virtually ensures that Floyd Mayweather will scrap human chandelier Amir Khan on May 3.

Although the 36-year-old Mayweather (45-0, 26 KOs) looks unbeatable, Garcia could have tested the reigning pound-for-pound king.

Instead, now “it’s official,” Danny Garcia and Floyd Mayweather will both remain undefeated this spring.
