The Kansas City Royals will put a uniform on their ninth rookie this season as they recall pitching prospect Danny Duffy to make a spot start on Wednesday, May 18 at Kaufman Stadium against the Texas Rangers.
Duffy, drafted in 2007, was 3-1 at AAA Omaha this season, with forty three strikeouts and only ten walks in thirty six innings pitched. Duffy, has pitched better this year than Mike Montgomery who was considered the Royals number one pitching prospect in spring training.
Prior to this year Duffy has struck out 359 batters in 308 innings in parts of four minor league seasons. He should be added in any AL keeper leagues where he is not already rostered and in redraft leagues - either AL or Mixed where a player can be reserved when sent down to the minors should be added as he will have value later in the season when the Royals bring him back up.
Players in NL only leagues who might have missed Julio Teheran when he was up for the Atlanta Braves a few weeks ago may get another chance to add him as he will also be recalled for a spot start this week, likely on Wednesday when the Braves visit Arizona to play the Diamondbacks.
