Former "X Factor" U.K. judge Dannii Minogue, who has remained primarily based in her native Australia since she left the show, has returned to the U.K. TV to be a judge on Sky Living's "Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model." In an exclusive interview that The Sun published on March 16, 2013, Minogue said that "The X Factor" is now in her past, and what she wants for her future is to have another child with the right man. She has a 2-year-old son named Ethan with her ex-boyfriend Kris Smith. The former couple ended their four-year relationship in 2012.
Minogue (who is 41) was a judge on "The X Factor" U.K. from 2007 to 2010. She was replaced by Kelly Rowland in 2011. Rowland parted ways with the show after she was reportedly unable to reach an agreement over her salary and time commitment. In 2012, Minogue told the media that she was offered her old job back on "The X Factor" U.K. after Rowland's departure, but Minogue said that she turned down the offer. Rowland was eventually replaced by Nicole Scherzinger.
At the time, Minogue said she turned down the offer to go back to "The X Factor" U.K. because she wanted to raise her son in Australia, but many people have speculated that another reason was that she was upset with "X Factor" executive producer Simon Cowell for revealing in an interview for the unauthorized biography "Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell" that she and Cowell had a fling in 2008.
Sharon Osbourne, who famously feuded with Minogue when they were judges on "The X Factor" U.K., is rumored to be in talks to go back to being a judge on the show in 2013. "The X Factor" U.K. judging panel for 2013 has not been announced yet, but it should be announced by May.
After leaving "The X Factor," Minogue has put her music career on hold and has been mostly focused on the fashion industry. She launched her own fashion brand (Project D), and she said she is looking forward to her new job on "Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model." Minogue told The Sun: “I think it will be interesting for viewers to see me do something completely different. I can’t wait to get back on British TV and I’m not nervous at all.”
The other stars of "Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model" are supermodels Elle Macpherson (who has been the show's host since 2010) and Tyson Beckford (who became a judge on the show in 2012).
Minogue also said that she wants to have more children if the right man comes along: "I’d like to have more kids, but we’re into the terrible twos with Ethan so we’ll see. He requires a lot of time, which is why I changed my schedule to be with him more. I don’t want to miss out on these moments with him.”
