Danko Jones shook the very core of the House of Blues, on Mar. 15. They were the main support, Spoken was the opening act and Volbeat was the headliner.
Danko Jones is the guitarist and vocalist, John “JC” Calabrese is the bassist and Atom Willard is the drummer of Danko Jones.
Before Danko Jones walked on stage, an instrumental accompanying the sounds of footsteps was heard blaring through the speakers. Some of those in attendance began to clap their hands with the rhythm. Calabrese and Willard appeared first and Jones followed, shortly after. Calabrese led the spectators in a series of rhythmic applause and they followed suit, before beginning their set with “Terrified”.
While Calabrese and Willard continued to play the instrumental introduction of “First Date”, Jones introduced his band mates of Danko Jones. He greeted the observers and advised the photographers to be prepared to take some photographs. He mentioned there would be great photo opportunities to take advantage of, during the presentation.
Calabrese jumped repetitively to match every other drum beat of Willard, before “Full of Regret”. Jones briefly parted away from his microphone, as he continued to play his guitar. Towards the end of the song, the troop clapped their hands periodically with Willard’s drum beat on their own.
Jones had a pep talk and coached the men, as the instrumental for “Lovercall” continued on. He asked how many men out there could pleasure a woman. According to the first response, he heard approximately 35% could. He inquired again and estimated 65% of the audience knew how. He professed how long it would take him, from many hours to instant gratification. During the recital, he motioned his tongue at a rapid rate and the women howled at him.
After “Cadillac” came to a complete stop, Danko Jones ended their show on a high note with “Mountain”. Jones declared after his Rock & Roll days have come to an end, he would stand on the mountain, look down on those who doubted him and stand beside the likes of Johnny Cash and Tupac Shakur. He went onto say if anyone has ever felt insecure because of another’s ignorance—they should say the following three times a day, “This heart gets stronger, this skin gets tougher, this mouth gets louder!”
“Forget My Name”, “Just A Beautiful Day” and “I Think Bad Thoughts” were also part of Danko Jones’ set.
