Danko Jones Coming To The Webster

Ask the average fan of rock music who their favorite bands are and Danko Jones will surely not be on the list. This is not a diss. Instead it is used to show how underrated this band truly is. They, to be honest, have not been given a fair chance of showcasing their great talent.

Other lesser bands have had unlimited opportunities. These bands have had misses and failed numerous times but still get publicity to the nth degree. In contrast, Danko Jones has had much less national recognition but they have hit every chance they get.

If you want to see the band live you're in luck. They will be at The Webster Underground on February 27th. Tickets can be had for a very low price.

You might not be too knowledgeable about the band because, as said, they don't get the credit they deserve. However, their two singles that have received good play should be starting points to familiarizing yourself with their work.

"First Date" and "Full Of Regret" are both terrific songs and characterize the sound and attitude of the band quite well. Danko Jones is one-of-a-kind when it comes to this aspect of their music. They combine a hard rock feel from today's genre with classical rock heard decades earlier. "Full Of Regret" is the perfect example of this.

"First Date" is similar in sound and the cockiness of the lead singer is even more evident in the lyrics. Both songs show the questions zipping around in the singer's head. However, in "First Date" he answers them with authority.

"Full Of Regret" is different in that, although he shows ruthlesness, he is more negative, as evidenced by the title of the song. This negativity is hidden to a great extent because of the confidence he sings with. Because of this, he is positive in his assertion and gains the respect of a variety of listeners.

Many may have forgotten about Danko Jones following their first hit which was "First Date." Of course, that is assuming they even heard the band in the first place. Just recently, "Full Of Regret" hit the rock radio stations and surely gained the band some new fans. Let's just hope that we don't have to wait years before hearing another of their songs on mainstream radio.
