A martyr video has been posted online praising Shiraz Tariq, also known as Abu Masa.
Tariq was a 34-year-old Danish Salafist, who has been reportedly killed in the Syrian civil war. He was the leader of Kaldet til Islam (Called to Islam).
The video purports that Tariq was killed while fighting for the jihadist group Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar or the Emigrants Army. This terrorist group is made up of over 2,000 foreign fighters.
The Emigrants Army has been linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant which is an al-Qaeda affiliate fighting jihad in Syria.
The Long War Journal says, "reports of Tariq's death arose after a martyrdom video about him surfaced over the past week. A post on the video sharing website LiveLeak alleged that Tariq had been killed in Syria's Latakia province on the morning of Sept. 25."
According to the LiveLeak report a Danish progressive newspaper called the Politiken has described Tariq as "the spider in the Salafist movement" in Denmark.
Kaldet til Islam has received a lot of notoriety in the media recently after another member, Abu Khattab, posted videos from Syria. In those videos, Khattab called for Danish Muslims to join him in the civil war.
Khattab is Tariq's pupil and it is currently unknown where he is and whether or not he was also killed. It's reported that six terrorists from Denmark have been killed in the Syrian civil war. If Tariq was killed that would bring the total to seven confirmed jihadists killed in the war.
