Danielle Campbell signs on for 'Vampire Diaries' potential spinoff

The Originals” has found another witch. On Friday, it was announced that Danielle Campbell has join the cast of the potential “Vampire Diaries” spinoff.

Campbell has been tapped to play Davina. The character is described as a young and troubled witch who has been sheltered by protective caregivers. Her innocence about the way the world works makes her equal parts wondrous and dangerous. She’s delicate and ethereal, but not without her own demons.

The Originals” centers on the Original family of vampires as Klaus (Joseph Morgan) returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans, a town he helped build centuries ago, and is reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). Elijah (Daniel Gillies) is intent on helping his self-destructive brother find redemption and must side with Marcel’s enemies in order to keep Klaus in line.

Previously announced cast members in addition to Morgan, Gillies and Davis include Daniella Pineda, who will also be playing a witch and Phoebe Tonkin, who will resume her role as the werewolf Hayley.

Campbell’s prior TV roles include “Prison Break” and “Drop Dead Diva.”

The Vampire Diaries” airs Thursdays at 7 p.m. CST on The CW. “The Originals” will air on April 25.
