After losing his featherweight title in November to Daniel Straus, Pat Curran will get an immediate rematch against the Cincinnati native.
Bellator announced on Monday evening that Straus will defend his title against Curran in the main event at Bellator 112 on March 14. The event will take place in Hammond, Ind at the Horseshoe Casino and the main card will air live on Spike TV.
“Daniel Straus and Pat Curran are two of the best featherweights on the planet and deserve every ounce and praise and recognition they receive,” Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney said. "Our featherweight division continues to be the deepest and strongest featherweight division in MMA.”
Straus earned a title shot against Curran after winning the Season 6 featherweight tournament in 2012. Straus won by unanimous decision at Bellator 106 to win the title and even the series at one a piece.
The two originally fought in 2009 at XFO 29 and Curran earned a second round knockout victory. Since then, Straus went on to win 18 of his next 19 fights and Curran would go on to win the Bellator lightweight and featherweight tournaments.
Bellator 112 will also host the opening round of the Season 10 welterweight tournament. Bellator officials have confirmed that “Fight Master” winner Joe Riggs, Nah-Shon Burrell and War Master will participate in the tournament.
