Coming off his heartbreaking loss to Pat Curran in March, Daniel Straus is set to return to the cage in October.
Bellator officials announced the featherweight fight on Friday afternoon along with two other feature fights. Karo Parisyan will take on Marius Zaromskis and Christian M’Pumbu will drop down to middleweight to take on Kendall Grove.
In one of the most exciting fights of year, Curran was able to submit Straus in the remaining seconds of the final round to win the Bellator featherweight title. The loss snapped Straus’ six-fight winning streak.
“I’m ready to get back to work,” Straus stated. “I love to stay active, fight as much as I can, and now I have the opportunity to get back on the road to getting my title shot, and Justin is in the way of that goal. I’ve got to focus on myself and what I’m doing, but you better believe I’ll have my eyes on Curran-Pitbull on Sept. 5, as well.”
The Ohio native had won the featherweight title from Curran in November by unanimous decision. Staurs earned the title shot by winning the Bellator season six featherweight tournament in 2012.
Wilcox will return to the featherweight division after moving up to lightweight to defeat Jason Fischer at Bellator 114 . Before that, the California native lost in the Bellator featherweight tournament final to Patricio Freire in November.
Wilcox is a former Strikeforce veteran and went 5-3-1 in the organization. “The Silverback” moved over to Bellator after Strikeforce shut down and has gone 3-1 in the organization.
