Daniel Lanois might be best-known for producing classic albums like U2's The Joshua Tree and Bob Dylan's Time Out of Mind, but the esteemed producer and musician also keeps busy with other musical endeavors.
Lanois' latest project is called Black Dub, and they're coming to Park West in Chicago this Friday, June 10. They're touring in support of their self-titled album, released last year to solid reviews.
Songs like the explosive "Ring the Alarm" feature the soulful lead vocals of Trixie Whitley, who does most of the singing on the record. The songs were recorded in one take with no overdubs. Rolling Stone referred to it as an "astral roots-rock album," while USA Today calls it "a sultry, potent brew of gospel, reggae, Memphis soul and funk."
Tickets for the Black Dub show at Park West in Chicago are $27.50. The opening act will be Rocco DeLuca and the show is ages 18 & over.
Afterwards, the group will head to Bonnaroo for the weekend but will return to Chicago in early July as part of the Dave Matthews Band Caravan.
