Danica Patrick will race for Scott Turner Motorsports in the NASCAR Nationwide Series DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Raceway on Saturday, February 23, per a recent release. Patrick, who is making the jump from NNS to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this season, will also compete in the NSCS Daytona 500 the following day.
"I'm looking forward to competing in the Nationwide Series race at Daytona driving the No.34 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet Camaro," said Patrick. "Turner Scott Motorsports is a great organization and they've got great people to work with. I really have to thank everybody at GoDaddy for this opportunity. They are always so supportive of what I do."
Danica has raced the DRIVE4COPD 300 each of the last three seasons. Last season she qualified on the pole but finished a disappointing 38th. In 2011 she came in 14th and in 2010 she started the race in 15th place but dropped back substantially and finished 35th overall.
On Saturday, February 16, Patrick had the third fastest car during a practice session at Daytona, per a recent report. The Scottsdale, AZ resident ran a blistering lap of 195.359 mph at one of NASCAR's fastest venues. The practice session is in preparation for the NSCS Daytona 500 qualifying.
2013 is Patrick's first full season in NSCS. In 2012 she ran a full NNS schedule and finished 10th in the final standings. Last season she also competed in 10 NSCS races to prepare for her jump to NASCAR's biggest stage.
